In a world where technology is advancing at an unprecedented pace, the value of hands-on training has never been more important. At Nexeed, we are deeply committed to the idea that confidence on the plant floor directly impacts quality, efficiency, and profitability. This is why we continue to invest in our “Nexeed Seed School” — a training program that combines in-person and virtual sessions as seed processing technology becomes increasingly sophisticated.
Training operators during normal production days can be a daunting task. Alarms, trucks lining up, and divided attention make it difficult for learners to fully absorb the material. However, when we bring customers into our lab or connect with them virtually, we create a focused learning environment. The only focus is on color sorting, allowing participants to truly engage with the training.
In our lab, customers can experience a color sorter as they would a new vehicle. They run their own samples, interact with the screen, adjust recipes, and immediately see the results. We simulate live runs, capture accepts and rejects in bins, and measure outcomes in real time. When someone adjusts a setting and observes the impact on quality or the amount of good product saved, the results are undeniable. The “aha” moment arrives swiftly, and participants leave with a deeper understanding of the technology.
What makes this training program particularly rewarding is the feedback we receive afterward. Quality managers often report noticing an immediate difference in performance. Operators return more confident, making adjustments on their own and consistently improving finished product quality. This newfound confidence often saves good seed that would otherwise be rejected, directly benefiting the bottom line.
Virtual training has also emerged as a powerful tool. Using color sorter simulators on laptops, we can demonstrate how the machine “thinks.” We employ real images of good and bad product, explain differentiation processes, and show how recipe changes affect decisions. The interface is identical to the actual machine, just portable and highly effective for both training and introductions.
As AI becomes more prevalent in new technologies, the need for hands-on training remains crucial. By providing immersive, focused environments—whether in-person or virtual—we ensure that operators are equipped to handle the latest advancements. The “Nexeed Seed School” is not just about teaching technical skills; it’s about building confidence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. In a high-tech world, the ability to adapt and excel in the face of new challenges is more important than ever, and hands-on training is the key to unlocking that potential.
