Ursula K. Le Guin's blog has been turned into a podcast

For those who will never tire of the words of Ursula K. Le Guin, a special treat is on the way. The esteemed late author's blog, which she started in 2010 at the age of 81, is being rereleased as a podcast, "In Your Spare Time." Le Guin's blog ran until 2017, and a book collecting a selection of those posts was published that year. But, the podcast will include everything: essays, poems, and "even the ones that are mostly cat pictures," according to the announcement. The first episode will be released April 8 on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other platforms.

From Le Guin's official Instagram account, which is managed by her estate, the announcement reads: "We always wanted to hear a version of the blog that includes every single post, even the ones that are mostly cat pictures. So for the next two years and change, we'll release an episode every Wednesday. Each episode features a different reader of Ursula's text, and each reader adds their own thoughtsтАФabout their relationship with Ursula and her work, or about the specific topic of the post, or whatever catches their fancy. You can listen to a trailer here ahead of the first episode's release this week. Post zero, 'A Note at the Beginning,' will be read by David Mitchell."

This project is a testament to the enduring legacy of Ursula K. Le Guin, whose works continue to captivate readers and inspire new generations. Her blog, which began as a platform for her musings and reflections, has now been transformed into a podcast that will allow listeners to immerse themselves in her words and the voices of those who share her passion.

Le Guin's blog, "In Your Spare Time," was a unique space where she explored a wide range of topics, from literary criticism to personal anecdotes, often interspersed with her love for cats. The podcast aims to preserve the full scope of her blog, including the more lighthearted posts that might have been overlooked in previous compilations. This decision to include every single post, no matter how seemingly insignificant, reflects the essence of Le Guin's writing and her ability to find depth and meaning in the smallest details.

The podcast's structure is designed to engage listeners on multiple levels. Each episode will feature a different reader, adding a diverse range of perspectives to Le Guin's words. These readers will not only read the original blog posts but will also share their own thoughts and insights, creating a dynamic conversation that honors Le Guin's work while offering new interpretations and connections.

The first episode, read by David Mitchell, will set the tone for the series. Mitchell, a respected author in his own right, is an appropriate choice to kick off the podcast, as his admiration for Le Guin's work is well-documented. The episode will be titled "A Note at the Beginning," providing a fitting introduction to the blog and the podcast.

The release of "In Your Spare Time" is a significant event for Le Guin's fans and anyone who appreciates her writing. It offers a unique opportunity to revisit her blog posts in a new format, while also celebrating the enduring impact of her work. The podcast's commitment to including every post, from essays and poems to cat pictures, ensures that the full range of Le Guin's creativity is showcased, providing a comprehensive look at her thoughts and passions.

Moreover, the podcast's release scheduleтАФan episode every Wednesday for the next two years and changeтАФdemonstrates the dedication of Le Guin's estate to preserving and sharing her legacy. This regular release schedule will allow listeners to engage with Le Guin's words on a consistent basis, fostering a deeper connection with her ideas and the world she created.

"In Your Spare Time" is not just a podcast; it is a celebration of Ursula K. Le Guin's life and work. By transforming her blog into a podcast, listeners are given a new way to experience her writing, while also hearing the voices of those who share her passion. This innovative project will undoubtedly resonate with fans of Le Guin's work and introduce her ideas to a new audience, ensuring that her influence continues to be felt long after her passing.

In conclusion, the transformation of Ursula K. Le Guin's blog into a podcast is a remarkable initiative that pays homage to the author's incredible talent and the enduring impact of her work. "In Your Spare Time" promises to be a treasure trove of essays, poems, and personal reflections, all read by a diverse group of voices that add their own unique perspectives. For Le Guin's fans and anyone who appreciates thoughtful writing, this podcast is a must-listen, offering a fresh and engaging way to explore the author's words and the world she helped create.

UI backwards compatibility
UI backwards compatibility
About once a month, an app that I regularly use will change its UI in a way that breaks muscle memory, basically tricking the user into doing things they donтАЩt want. Zulip In recent memory, Zulip (a slack competitor) changed its newline behavior so that ctrl + enter sends a message instead of inserting a new line. After this change, I sent a number of half-baked messages and it seemed like some other people did too. Around the time they made that change, they made another change such that a series of clicks that would cause you to send a private message to someone would instead cause you to send a private message to the alphabetically first person who was online. Most people didnтАЩt notice that this was a change, but when I mentioned that this had happened to me a few times in the past couple weeks, multiple people immediately said that the exact same thing happened to them. Some people also mentioned that the behavior of navigation shortcut keys was changed in a way that could cause people to broadcast a message instead of sending a private message. In both cases, some people blamed themselves and didnтАЩt know why theyтАЩd just started making mistakes that caused them to send messages to the wrong place. Doors A while back, I was at Black Seed Bagel, which has a door that looks 75% like a тАЬpushтАЭ door from both sides when itтАЩs actually a push door from the outside and
