This viral video of Amit Shah allegedly making remarks about Pakistan’s role in the Iran–US conflict and “Akhand Bharat” in the Lok Sabha is a deepfake

A viral video claiming to show India's Union Home Minister Amit Shah making inflammatory remarks about Pakistan, the Iran-US conflict, and the concept of "Akhand Bharat" in the Lok Sabha has been circulating on social media. The clip, which has been shared widely by Pakistani social media handles, allegedly features Shah saying, "Pakistan is not the name of a country; it is part of Akhand Bharat. We do not need to worry if Pakistan plays a broker role in the Iran-US conflict and resolves it. Iran will fall, Pakistan will also fall, and then Akhand Bharat and Greater Israel will emerge. Asim Munir is our enemy, and we know how to deal with an enemy."

To determine the veracity of this claim, we conducted a thorough investigation. First, we searched for any official records or credible reports indicating that Shah had made such statements in Parliament. However, no such evidence was found. We then performed a reverse image search, which led us to the full version of the video uploaded on the official Sansad TV channel on 30 March 2026.

The original video shows Shah responding to a discussion on "Freeing the country from Left Wing Extremism" under Rule 193 in the Lok Sabha. The viral clip features a timestamp of 18:06, but when we checked the same timestamp in the original video, we found no mention of Pakistan, Akhand Bharat, Iran, or Asim Munir. To further verify, we reviewed the official transcript of the speech, which also did not contain any such remarks.

To confirm whether the audio in the viral video had been manipulated, we used an AI-based audio detection tool. The analysis indicated that the audio was likely deepfake, confirming that the video had been digitally altered.

This incident highlights the growing concern over deepfake technology being used to spread misinformation and manipulate public opinion. It is crucial for social media platforms and users to remain vigilant and fact-check before sharing such content. In this case, the claim has been debunked, and it is essential to rely on verified sources for accurate information.

The spread of such false narratives can exacerbate tensions between India and Pakistan, both of which are nuclear-armed nations. Therefore, it is imperative to address the root causes of mistrust and promote dialogue between the two countries. The Indian government has consistently called for peace and stability in the region, and such misinformation undermines these efforts.

In conclusion, the viral video of Amit Shah making allegedly inflammatory remarks about Pakistan and Akhand Bharat has been proven to be a deepfake. The original speech from the Lok Sabha does not contain any such statements, and the official transcript corroborates this finding. This incident serves as a reminder of the need for critical thinking and fact-checking in an era where deepfakes and fake news are increasingly prevalent.
