The best deals on MacBooks right now

In 2026, Apple has expanded its MacBook lineup to include not only its renowned M-series processors but also A-series chips, which were previously exclusive to iPhones. This innovation has led to a wider range of options and more price points than ever before, with the MacBook Neo starting at just $599. All these models run the latest version of macOS, macOS 26, ensuring seamless performance and compatibility.

While purchasing an affordable laptop has become easier with these new offerings, users with specific needs or those requiring high-performance capabilities may find the process more complex. For instance, connecting multiple 6K displays or demanding high processing power can narrow down the choices. However, finding a deal on a speedy MacBook model is surprisingly attainable if you know where to look.

Deals on various MacBook models, such as the MacBook Neo, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac Mini, are not uncommon, with discounts of up to $800. The quality of these deals, however, fluctuates frequently, making it essential to stay informed. Another cost-saving option is purchasing refurbished MacBooks directly from Apple. These units come with a one-year warranty and are often discounted by up to 20 percent off their original prices. This is also the only way to find certain configurations of older models, as Apple continues to launch newer versions.

For those looking to save money on new MacBooks, here are the best deals available for each model:

The MacBook Neo, a 13-inch laptop designed to compete with premium Chromebooks and mid-range Windows laptops, offers a unique experience. Its design shares similarities with other MacBook models, but there are distinct differences, such as the placement of the headphone jack and speakers, and the thickness of the screen's bezel. Notably, the Neo runs on Apple's A18 Pro chipset, blending the power of an iPhone's A-series chip with the performance of a MacBook.

The MacBook Air, known for its sleek design and portability, is also available at discounted prices. With its lightweight build and long battery life, it remains a popular choice for users who prioritize mobility and style.

The MacBook Pro, Apple's flagship laptop, is available in various configurations, each offering high-performance capabilities. Whether you need a powerful processor for intensive tasks or a large display for multitasking, the MacBook Pro caters to a wide range of needs.

Lastly, the Mac Mini, a compact and powerful desktop computer, is another option for those seeking a versatile and space-saving solution. Its small form factor belies its powerful performance, making it an ideal choice for users who want a powerful machine without the bulk of a traditional desktop.

In conclusion, 2026 has brought significant changes to the MacBook lineup, offering more options and price points than ever before. With a variety of deals available, from refurbished units to discounted new models, it's easier than ever to find a MacBook that fits your needs and budget. Whether you're looking for an affordable option, a powerful machine, or a compact solution, Apple's expanded range of MacBooks ensures there's a model for every user.

UI backwards compatibility
UI backwards compatibility
About once a month, an app that I regularly use will change its UI in a way that breaks muscle memory, basically tricking the user into doing things they don’t want. Zulip In recent memory, Zulip (a slack competitor) changed its newline behavior so that ctrl + enter sends a message instead of inserting a new line. After this change, I sent a number of half-baked messages and it seemed like some other people did too. Around the time they made that change, they made another change such that a series of clicks that would cause you to send a private message to someone would instead cause you to send a private message to the alphabetically first person who was online. Most people didn’t notice that this was a change, but when I mentioned that this had happened to me a few times in the past couple weeks, multiple people immediately said that the exact same thing happened to them. Some people also mentioned that the behavior of navigation shortcut keys was changed in a way that could cause people to broadcast a message instead of sending a private message. In both cases, some people blamed themselves and didn’t know why they’d just started making mistakes that caused them to send messages to the wrong place. Doors A while back, I was at Black Seed Bagel, which has a door that looks 75% like a “push” door from both sides when it’s actually a push door from the outside and
