Six Hyderabad Youths Stranded in Nepal After Job-Related Raid

Six young men from Hyderabad, India, found themselves in a precarious situation after traveling to Nepal in search of employment. The group, consisting of Syed Majid, Sajid Omer Syed, Mohammed Imran, Mir Khaled Hussain, Razak Mohammed, and Ramadagiri, had been working in a company named Sheertel Holidays in Lalitpur district. Their journey, initially filled with hope for a better future, took an unexpected turn when Nepal police conducted a raid on the company's office on March 17.

The youths had been hired by a person from Hyderabad to work as salesmen and customer care staff. For three months, they had been receiving regular salaries and settling into their new roles. However, the sudden raid disrupted their lives, leaving them in the unfamiliar territory of Nepal, detained alongside the company owner, Bibek Regmi.

During the raid, around 40 people were taken into custody, including the six Indian youths. Nepali nationals were later released, but the Indian men remain in detention. Their families, back in Hyderabad, are now facing significant stress and uncertainty about their loved ones' safety and well-being.

Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), a local organization, has raised concerns over the plight of the detained youths. Spokesperson Amjed Ullah Khan has urged the Indian government to intervene, specifically requesting External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to instruct the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu to take action.

The families of the detained youths are seeking help to bring their loved ones back to India safely. Amjed Ullah Khan emphasized that the young men were merely employees and had no direct involvement in any fraudulent activities. The situation has highlighted the challenges faced by Indians working abroad, particularly when unexpected events such as raids occur.

As the families of the detained youths await further developments, the Indian Embassy in Nepal is expected to play a crucial role in resolving the situation. The incident serves as a reminder of the risks associated with overseas employment, particularly when relying on intermediaries. It also underscores the importance of strong diplomatic relations and support for Indian citizens abroad.

The story of these six young men from Hyderabad serves as a cautionary tale for those considering work opportunities in foreign countries. While the pursuit of better job prospects can be enticing, it is essential to ensure that the arrangements are legitimate and to have a safety net in place. The families of the detained youths are now counting on the Indian government to secure their safe return and provide the necessary support during this challenging time.
