Our First 2026 AWS Heroes Cohort Is Here!

We’re thrilled to celebrate the selection of our first 2026 AWS Heroes Cohort, a group of exceptional developer community leaders who embody the spirit of the AWS community. These individuals go beyond sharing technical knowledge; they build connections, forge genuine human relationships, and create pathways for others to grow. Their impact is defined by a rare combination of technical expertise and inclusive community building, reaching across continents and transforming local ecosystems.

Maurizio Argoneto, based in Pignola, Italy, is a Community Hero recognized for his dedication to building tech ecosystems where they previously did not exist. As the CTO of his organization and the organizer of the AWS User Group Basilicata, Maurizio has pioneered cloud culture through a philosophy centered on genuine human connection and knowledge transfer. For over a decade, he has been instrumental in introducing cloud computing to regions that may have been overlooked, fostering a sense of community and collaboration among developers.

One of Maurizio’s most notable achievements is the founding of an international tech conference in a small mountain village. This unique event brings together global experts and local talent, blending deep technical sessions on cloud architectures, DevOps, and web scaling with unconventional networking experiences. By creating a platform where knowledge can flow freely and connections can be made, Maurizio has successfully bridged the gap between established tech hubs and underserved areas.

Beyond organizing events, Maurizio is a tireless mentor working across generations. He has introduced children to coding, helping them develop a passion for technology from a young age. He also supports university students and professionals transitioning into cloud architecture, ensuring that they have the resources and guidance they need to succeed. His inclusive approach has drawn people from across Europe, creating a diverse and vibrant community that continues to grow.

Ray Goh, based in Singapore, is an Artificial Intelligence Hero who has made significant contributions to the AWS community since 2018. He has been a part of various AWS community programs, including AWS ASEAN Cloud Warrior, AWS Dev/Cloud Alliance, and the pioneer batch of AWS Community Builders in 2020. Ray’s passion for AI and machine learning has led him to found The Gen-C (a Generative AI Learning Community) in 2024. Through this initiative, he organizes regular public workshops at libraries across Singapore, covering a wide range of topics related to AI and generative learning.

Ray’s work with The Gen-C has not only educated the local community about the latest advancements in AI but has also made these technologies accessible to a broader audience. By hosting workshops in public libraries, he ensures that knowledge is shared equitably, breaking down barriers that might prevent some individuals from accessing cutting-edge AI tools. His efforts have helped to foster a culture of innovation and learning within the Singaporean tech community, inspiring many to explore the possibilities of AI and machine learning.
