Navi Mumbai Police Seize Modified Silencers From 11 Bikes

NAVI MUMBAI — The Seawoods Traffic Unit of the Navi Mumbai Police seized modified silencers from 11 motorcycles during a special enforcement drive on Palm Beach Road on Tuesday, acting on persistent complaints from local residents about excessive noise pollution. The operation targeted motorcycles fitted with loud, aftermarket exhaust systems that violate vehicle noise standards. Officers stopped and inspected vehicles along the stretch, confiscating the illegal silencers and issuing fines to the riders on the spot.

The drive was conducted as part of a broader effort to curb noise disturbances that have been disrupting residential areas near the busy coastal road. Authorities said the crackdown was a direct response to grievances filed by residents who reported that modified motorcycles were generating high-decibel noise, particularly during late-night hours. Palm Beach Road, a key arterial route in Navi Mumbai, has seen a rise in such violations, prompting the traffic unit to intensify surveillance.
