MrBeast says he doesn't have a healthy work-life balance and juggles 15+ hour days

MrBeast, the YouTube sensation known for his extravagant stunts and massive giveaways, has revealed that he struggles to maintain a healthy work-life balance, often working 15-hour days. The revelation comes as his company, Beast Industries, aims to expand its team by 50% this year.

Jimmy Donaldson, whose real name is MrBeast, has been a familiar face on YouTube for years, captivating millions with his unique content. However, the behind-the-scenes work required to produce his videos is no secret. In a recent video with creator Jon Youshaei, Donaldson opened up about his grueling schedule, admitting that he rarely worked less than 15 hours a day during the production of his Amazon show "Beast Games."

"It was a miracle if a day was less than 15 hours for me," Donaldson said, highlighting the intensity of his workload. He explained that his schedule is meticulously planned, with every minute accounted for. "Everything has to be perfect because I don't have much time," he added, emphasizing the need for precision in his work.

To illustrate the extent of his dedication, Donaldson shared an example of how his team operates. He mentioned having a body double who works a standard nine-to-five schedule, blocking out potential YouTube thumbnails for him. This allows Donaldson's team to quickly execute thumbnails when he is ready to shoot them.

Despite the demanding schedule, Donaldson appears content with his workload. In the video, he stated that he has no plans to slow down. However, he acknowledged that his situation is "not really a fair comparison for most people." In a separate statement on X, he wrote, "I live to work and 100% do not have a healthy work life balance."

Behind MrBeast's success lies a well-oiled machine. In 2024, he appointed Jeffrey Housenbold, a former Shutterfly CEO and venture capitalist, as the CEO of Beast Industries. Since then, the company has built a team of executives with diverse backgrounds, including individuals from TikTok, Snap, NBCUniversal, and other companies.

Housenbold recently shared on LinkedIn that Beast Industries plans to expand its team by 50% this year, with a focus on hiring in New York City. This expansion aims to support the growth of the company and the increasing demand for content.

As MrBeast's empire continues to grow, the question of work-life balance remains. While Donaldson's unwavering dedication to his craft has undoubtedly contributed to his success, it also serves as a stark reminder of the toll that such an intense workload can take. For now, however, MrBeast shows no signs of slowing down, content to live and breathe his work.

Who’s to blame if you were served a greasy cup of “soapy soup” in a tapsilog joint? Is it the dishwasher who treats the grease like a decorative fixture? The waiter who delivered it with a straight face? The chef who doesn’t care? Or the manager who’s watching a YouTube video while on duty?
