These disturbances are expected to bring heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds across the country until April 9. The IMD has also warned of an unstable weather pattern with high winds, thunderstorms, and a potentially severe climate in several states.
On April 5, 2026, the weather across India underwent significant changes, with heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds reported in various regions. The most severe weather was experienced in Arunachal Pradesh and parts of Tamil Nadu, while heavy snowfall and thunderstorms were reported in the Himalayan regions and northwestern India.
The IMD has provided updates on the weather forecast and early warning system for the coming days, highlighting the possibility of high winds and an unstable climate in many states. For northwestern India, there is a high chance of two powerful western disturbances on April 7 and 8, 2026. In the Kashmir region, heavy rain and strong thunderstorms are expected on April 7. In central, southern, and eastern India, heavy rain with thunderstorms is predicted until April 9.

Northwestern India: Heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds are expected in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and parts of Uttar Pradesh. On April 7, heavy rain and strong thunderstorms are expected in the Kashmir region. On April 7 and 8, rain and thunderstorms may also occur in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and parts of western Uttar Pradesh.
Northeastern India: In the coming five days, heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds are expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya. The weather will remain unstable with strong winds and thunderstorms. Heavy rain is also expected in parts of West Bengal and Sikkim on April 8 and 9.
Eastern India: Heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds are expected in Bihar and Jharkhand on April 5, 6, and 8. On April 7 and 8, heavy rain with thunderstorms and strong winds are expected in the Gangetic plains of West Bengal.
