I replaced my Galaxy S23 with the S26 Ultra, and these 3 things made it worth it

Fewer and fewer people are upgrading to new phones every year, and honestly, I get it. I’ve been using the Samsung Galaxy S23 since October 2023, and it’s been a rock-solid experience. I’ve rarely felt it slow down, and while there are occasional hiccups, it’s not nearly enough to make me dislike the phone. Recently, though, I got a chance to try the Galaxy S26 Ultra, and with the Samsung store offering a solid trade-in for my Galaxy S23, I finally decided to upgrade after nearly 2.5 years. I’ve been using the Galaxy S26 Ultra for the past couple of weeks, and there are three major changes that have made the switch feel completely worth it.

First and foremost, the camera system on the Galaxy S26 Ultra is a significant upgrade from the S23. The new phone boasts a 200MP primary sensor, which captures stunningly detailed images. The improved low-light performance is particularly noticeable, allowing me to take clearer photos even in dimly lit environments. Additionally, the enhanced optical image stabilization makes video recording smoother and more stable, even when moving around. The S26 Ultra’s camera setup also includes a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 10MP telephoto lens, offering a versatile range of options for different shooting scenarios. The software improvements, such as better AI-assisted enhancements and more advanced editing tools, have made a noticeable difference in the overall photography experience.

Another major factor that made the switch worthwhile is the increased battery life. The Galaxy S26 Ultra features a larger 5,000mAh battery compared to the S23’s 3,900mAh battery. This upgrade has allowed me to use the phone for longer periods without needing to recharge. I’ve found that I can easily go through a full day with moderate usage, including several hours of video streaming and social media browsing, without running out of power. The S26 Ultra also supports faster wireless charging and improved power-saving modes, which further contribute to its extended battery life.

Lastly, the display on the Galaxy S26 Ultra is a significant upgrade. The phone features a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smoother scrolling and more vibrant colors compared to the S23’s 6.1-inch screen. The increased screen size and resolution make for a more immersive viewing experience, especially when watching videos or playing games. The higher peak brightness also ensures better visibility in bright sunlight, which has been a game-changer for outdoor activities.

In conclusion, the Galaxy S26 Ultra offers a compelling set of upgrades that have made the switch from the S23 feel well worth it. The enhanced camera system, longer battery life, and improved display quality are just a few of the features that have transformed my daily use of the phone. While it may seem like an unnecessary upgrade for some, the tangible improvements in these areas have made the transition to the newer model a worthwhile decision. For those considering an upgrade, the S26 Ultra’s features and performance could very well be the reasons to make the switch.
