Hong Kong table tennis star Wong hopes to build on strong momentum with partner Chan

Hong Kong table tennis star Wong Chun-ting is eager to capitalize on the success of his recent partnership with Baldwin Chan Ho-wah, following their recognition as one of the best sports combinations at the Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards. This prestigious award, which celebrates outstanding achievements in Hong Kong sports, has been a significant milestone for the duo, who have only been regular partners since October 2024.

Wong, a veteran of the sport, has previously won the best sports combination award three times with his long-term mixed doubles partner, Doo Hoi-kem. However, this year's nomination and win with Chan marks a new chapter in his career, as he transitions from mixed doubles to men's doubles. The city's men's doubles duo has quickly gained attention for their strong performances and promising potential, and the award serves as a testament to their hard work and dedication.

The pair's journey to success has been relatively swift, given that they only began competing together in October 2024. Their chemistry and synergy on the table tennis court have been evident, leading to a series of impressive victories and a growing fan base. The award at the Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards not only highlights their individual talents but also underscores the value of their partnership in achieving great success.

Wong's previous experience with Doo Hoi-kem has undoubtedly played a role in his ability to adapt to his new partnership with Chan. With three wins under his belt in the mixed doubles category, Wong brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the men's doubles arena. Chan, meanwhile, brings a fresh perspective and a dynamic playing style that complements Wong's experience. Together, they form a formidable team that is poised to make a significant impact in the world of table tennis.

The recognition from the Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards has undoubtedly boosted the morale and confidence of the duo. As they look to build on this momentum, Wong and Chan are determined to continue their strong performances and push their boundaries. Their goal is to not only defend their title but also to achieve even greater heights in the sport.

In addition to their sporting achievements, Wong and Chan's partnership also serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes in Hong Kong. Their success story demonstrates that with hard work, dedication, and a strong partnership, even those who have transitioned from one category to another can achieve remarkable results. As they continue to excel on the table tennis court, Wong and Chan are set to become role models for the next generation of athletes in Hong Kong and beyond.

As the duo looks ahead to future competitions, they remain focused on their goals and committed to improving their skills. With the momentum from their recent award and the support of their fans, Wong and Chan are well-positioned to make their mark in the world of table tennis. Their journey is a testament to the power of teamwork and the potential for greatness that lies within the sports community of Hong Kong.

Clojure 1.11.3
Clojure 1.11.3
Clojure 1.11.3 is now available. CLJ-2843 - Reflective calls to Java methods that take primitive long or double now work when passed a narrower boxed number at runtime (Integer, Short, Byte, Float). Previously, these methods were not matched during reflection and an error was thrown. Java 21 added an overload to the method Thread/sleep in the 1-arity. When upgrading to Java 21, existing Clojure calls to Thread/sleep become reflective, but continue to work. As usual, you can detect reflection with *warn-on-reflection* and address with a type hint (here, ^long ) to choose the desired overload. Previously, passing a Short or Integer value to a reflective call like Thread/sleep that takes a long would not match, that has been corrected.
