Hong Kong Cricket Sixes organisers pledge to deliver ‘bigger and better’ tournament in 2026

Hong Kong Cricket Sixes organisers have pledged to deliver a "bigger and better" tournament in 2026, following the confirmation that the popular event will take place at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground from October 30 to November 1 this year. The venue, which was filled to its 2,720 capacity on all three days last year, witnessed Pakistan clinch a record-breaking sixth title. Burji Shroff, the chairman of Cricket Hong Kong, China (CHKC), praised the 2025 Sixes as "the best we’ve had," but emphasized that the organisation aims to elevate the event further in the future.

The success of the 2025 tournament highlighted the growing popularity of the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes, which has become a staple in the cricketing calendar. The event's format, featuring six-a-side matches, has attracted fans and players alike, making it a unique and exciting addition to the sport's landscape. The organisers' commitment to delivering a "bigger and better" tournament in 2026 reflects their desire to capitalise on this momentum and further enhance the event's appeal.

In addition to the sporting aspects, the organisers are also focusing on improving the overall fan experience. This includes expanding the venue's capacity to accommodate more spectators, ensuring that all attendees have an enjoyable and memorable time. The Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground has proven to be a popular venue, but the organisers are eager to explore new possibilities that could further enhance the tournament's appeal.

The 2026 event will also serve as an opportunity to introduce new features and innovations. Burji Shroff has hinted at potential collaborations with local businesses and brands, aiming to create a more immersive and engaging experience for fans. These partnerships could include exclusive merchandise, food and beverage options, and additional entertainment features, such as live music or interactive displays.

Moreover, the organisers are committed to promoting the sport of cricket in Hong Kong and beyond. By hosting a high-quality tournament, they hope to inspire a new generation of cricketers and foster a love for the sport among local communities. The Hong Kong Cricket Sixes has already established itself as a platform for international teams to showcase their skills, and the 2026 edition will likely feature a diverse lineup of teams vying for the title.

The organisers' vision for a "bigger and better" tournament in 2026 is a testament to their dedication to the sport and their commitment to delivering exceptional events. As they build on the success of previous editions, the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes continues to evolve, ensuring that it remains a must-see event for cricket enthusiasts around the world. With the 2025 tournament already setting a high bar, the organisers have their work cut out for them, but their passion and determination are sure to pay off in 2026.

Clojure 1.11.3
Clojure 1.11.3
Clojure 1.11.3 is now available. CLJ-2843 - Reflective calls to Java methods that take primitive long or double now work when passed a narrower boxed number at runtime (Integer, Short, Byte, Float). Previously, these methods were not matched during reflection and an error was thrown. Java 21 added an overload to the method Thread/sleep in the 1-arity. When upgrading to Java 21, existing Clojure calls to Thread/sleep become reflective, but continue to work. As usual, you can detect reflection with *warn-on-reflection* and address with a type hint (here, ^long ) to choose the desired overload. Previously, passing a Short or Integer value to a reflective call like Thread/sleep that takes a long would not match, that has been corrected.
