HawkEye 360 Expands Board of Directors with Two New Appointments

HawkEye 360, a leading global provider of signals intelligence data and analytics, has announced the addition of two new members to its Board of Directors. Jonathan Shames and Frank Finelli bring a wealth of experience in finance, defense, aerospace, and national security, which will bolster the company's ongoing growth and mission impact.

Jonathan Shames, a seasoned professional with nearly four decades of experience in the financial and consulting sectors, joins the HawkEye 360 Board. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees and as Audit Committee Chairman for two Blue Owl Capital trusts: Digital Infrastructure Trust and Real Estate Net Lease Trust. In addition to his roles at Blue Owl Capital, Shames is a senior advisor with Highspring's Consulting division, where he assists organizations in addressing finance, technology, and business challenges.

Shames' extensive career at Ernst & Young LLP (EY) includes holding senior leadership positions that guided audit, accounting, and financial reporting practices. During his tenure at EY, he led numerous global engagements and served as the company's geopolitical leader. A licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Shames holds an Economics degree from Colgate University and an MBA in Finance from New York University.

Frank Finelli, another distinguished appointee, brings a background in defense and aerospace investments to the HawkEye 360 Board. Finelli spent over 25 years at The Carlyle Group, where he retired as Partner and Managing Director. During his time at Carlyle, he led major acquisitions and advanced cross-portfolio value creation initiatives, particularly in the defense and aerospace sectors.

Finelli's public service experience includes roles as Legislative Assistant to Senator Dan Coats on the Armed Services and Intelligence Committees, Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for the first Quadrennial Defense Review, and Associate Professor of Economics at the U.S. Military Academy. A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) holder, Finelli is a distinguished graduate of West Point, with advanced degrees from MIT's Sloan School of Management and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

The appointments of Shames and Finelli reflect HawkEye 360's commitment to expanding its board with diverse expertise and strategic insights. With their combined backgrounds in finance, defense, aerospace, and national security, the new board members will contribute to the company's continued growth and enhance its ability to deliver impactful solutions in the signals intelligence data and analytics sector.

HawkEye 360's mission to provide actionable intelligence and analytics to clients in defense, aerospace, and intelligence communities will benefit from the leadership and experience of Shames and Finelli. As the company continues to expand its capabilities and global reach, the addition of these seasoned professionals to its board underscores its dedication to innovation and excellence in the industry.

In the rapidly evolving landscape of signals intelligence, HawkEye 360's ability to leverage cutting-edge technology and data analytics is crucial for its clients. The expertise of Shames and Finelli will enable the company to navigate complex challenges, adapt to new opportunities, and deliver solutions that meet the evolving needs of its clients.

The appointments of Jonathan Shames and Frank Finelli to HawkEye 360's Board of Directors represent a strategic move to strengthen the company's governance and operational capabilities. With their extensive backgrounds in finance, defense, aerospace, and national security, the new board members will play a pivotal role in guiding HawkEye 360's future growth and ensuring its continued success in the global signals intelligence data and analytics market.

UI backwards compatibility
UI backwards compatibility
About once a month, an app that I regularly use will change its UI in a way that breaks muscle memory, basically tricking the user into doing things they donтАЩt want. Zulip In recent memory, Zulip (a slack competitor) changed its newline behavior so that ctrl + enter sends a message instead of inserting a new line. After this change, I sent a number of half-baked messages and it seemed like some other people did too. Around the time they made that change, they made another change such that a series of clicks that would cause you to send a private message to someone would instead cause you to send a private message to the alphabetically first person who was online. Most people didnтАЩt notice that this was a change, but when I mentioned that this had happened to me a few times in the past couple weeks, multiple people immediately said that the exact same thing happened to them. Some people also mentioned that the behavior of navigation shortcut keys was changed in a way that could cause people to broadcast a message instead of sending a private message. In both cases, some people blamed themselves and didnтАЩt know why theyтАЩd just started making mistakes that caused them to send messages to the wrong place. Doors A while back, I was at Black Seed Bagel, which has a door that looks 75% like a тАЬpushтАЭ door from both sides when itтАЩs actually a push door from the outside and
