D-Fend’s EnforceAir2 protects events in complex airspace in Ontario

D-Fend Solutions recently played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of large-scale events in Ontario by deploying its EnforceAir2 counter-drone system. This advanced technology was instrumental in securing airspace during the Rock the Runway open-air concert and festival, held at London International Airport in Southwestern Ontario, and the 55th Annual JUNO Awards in Hamilton.

The Rock the Runway event, which drew over 25,000 attendees, presented a significant challenge due to the complex airspace environment at the airport. To address this, D-Fend Solutions collaborated with Jones Entertainment Group, the London Police Service, and the London International Airport Authority. The EnforceAir2 system was deployed to provide real-time detection of unauthorized drone activity, ensuring that airspace security was maintained throughout the festival.

The EnforceAir2 system employs RF-cyber takeover technology, which allows it to detect and identify unauthorized drones without the need for jamming or kinetic engagement. During the event, multiple drones were detected operating within a 3km radius of the venue, including one that was launched from within the event perimeter. Thanks to the early warning provided by the EnforceAir2 system, security personnel were immediately dispatched to address the incident, ensuring that airspace security was not compromised.

D-Fend Solutions highlighted the system's performance during the event, stating that it delivered interference-free results despite the high-density RF environment with thousands of devices. The EnforceAir2 system was fully integrated with the London Police Service Operations Centre and Air Traffic Control, enabling a coordinated, real-time response to any potential threats.

Similarly, the EnforceAir2 system was also deployed to support airspace security operations during the recent 55th Annual JUNO Awards in Hamilton, Ontario. Held at TD Coliseum on March 29, 2026, the event hosted approximately 19,000 attendees inside the venue, with several thousand more in surrounding areas. D-Fend Solutions integrated its EnforceAir2 system directly into the Hamilton Police Emergency Operations Centre, providing a common operational picture with real-time airspace awareness.

The system supported Hamilton Police drone operations by detecting, locating, and identifying any potential unauthorized or malicious drones. It was able to distinguish between authorized and unauthorized drones in real time, ensuring that the event's airspace remained secure.

D-Fend Solutions' EnforceAir2 system has proven to be an effective tool in protecting large-scale events in complex airspace environments. By providing real-time detection and identification of unauthorized drones, the system allows event organizers and security personnel to respond swiftly to any potential threats, ensuring the safety and security of attendees. As the demand for large-scale events continues to grow, the need for robust airspace security solutions like EnforceAir2 will remain crucial in safeguarding these gatherings.
