Charter flight snag at Hyderabad airport, operations briefly hit

On Sunday, April 5, a charter flight departing from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad experienced a technical snag, causing a brief disruption in operations at the airport. The incident involved an aircraft registered as VT-REM, which was preparing to take off from the main runway en route to Raipur. According to Hyderabad airport officials, the issue arose during the takeoff phase, prompting the aircraft to be towed away for further evaluation.

The temporary setback led to a minor delay in the airport's operations. A few outgoing flights were forced to wait at the taxiway while the situation was addressed. One of these flights had to perform a go-around maneuver, but overall, the airport managed to resume its scheduled operations without significant further disruption.

The aircraft in question had landed in Hyderabad from Raipur at around 1:30 pm and carried a small number of passengers, including a patient being accompanied by medical professionals. This particular flight was not the first time technical issues have caused delays at the Hyderabad airport.

In the past, several instances of technical malfunctions have resulted in flight cancellations or returns to the terminal. On January 5, an Air India Express flight had to be cancelled due to a technical snag, forcing over 130 passengers to return to the terminal. In February, a flight bound for Singapore had to turn back shortly after takeoff due to a technical fault, but it landed safely with all passengers on board. Another incident saw a SpiceJet flight turn back after taking off from the Hyderabad airport due to a technical problem.

Despite these occasional setbacks, airport authorities have maintained that they take stringent precautions to ensure the safety and security of passengers. The recent charter flight incident underscores the challenges faced by airports in managing technical issues and maintaining smooth operations. However, the swift response of the airport staff and the successful resolution of the situation demonstrate their commitment to minimizing disruptions and keeping the airport running efficiently.
