Caspar Fownes and Joao Moreira bid to begin three-month campaign with a bang at Happy Valley

Caspar Fownes and Joao Moreira are set to begin their three-month campaign with a bang at Happy Valley on Wednesday night. The pair will combine forces with a full card of nine runners, marking the start of a busy and competitive season ahead.

Joao Moreira, one of Hong Kong's most decorated jockeys, is eager to make a strong statement at the beginning of his latest stint as a retained rider for Caspar Fownes. With over 1,200 winners to his name and four championship titles as the top jockey in the jurisdiction, Moreira's experience and skill are invaluable assets for Fownes' stable. The jockey aims to kick off his campaign with a series of victories, setting the tone for a successful three-month period.

Meanwhile, trainer Caspar Fownes is determined to reclaim the trainers' championship lead. Currently sitting in second place with 43 winners, Fownes is just four wins away from regaining the coveted title. With Moreira on board, the trainer's chances of achieving this goal have significantly increased. The full card of nine runners at Happy Valley represents a formidable lineup, and Fownes will be counting on Moreira's expertise to secure key victories and propel his stable towards the top of the standings.

The upcoming meeting at Happy Valley will be a crucial test for both Moreira and Fownes, as they face stiff competition from other top jockeys and trainers in Hong Kong. However, their combined experience and dedication to the sport give them a strong foundation to build upon. Fans and betting enthusiasts will be watching closely, eager to see if the duo can deliver the kind of performance that will set them apart from the rest of the field.

As the three-month campaign gets underway, Moreira and Fownes will need to maintain their momentum throughout the season. With a packed schedule of races ahead, the pair will have to navigate a challenging and unpredictable racing landscape. However, their track record of success and mutual respect for each other's abilities give them the confidence to tackle any obstacle that comes their way.

In conclusion, the beginning of the three-month campaign at Happy Valley promises to be an exciting start for Caspar Fownes and Joao Moreira. With a full card of runners and a shared goal of achieving success, the duo is well-positioned to make a significant impact in the coming months. As they face the challenges ahead, fans and industry insiders will be keen to see if Moreira and Fownes can deliver the kind of performances that will cement their status as top contenders in Hong Kong's competitive racing scene.

Clojure 1.11.3
Clojure 1.11.3
Clojure 1.11.3 is now available. CLJ-2843 - Reflective calls to Java methods that take primitive long or double now work when passed a narrower boxed number at runtime (Integer, Short, Byte, Float). Previously, these methods were not matched during reflection and an error was thrown. Java 21 added an overload to the method Thread/sleep in the 1-arity. When upgrading to Java 21, existing Clojure calls to Thread/sleep become reflective, but continue to work. As usual, you can detect reflection with *warn-on-reflection* and address with a type hint (here, ^long ) to choose the desired overload. Previously, passing a Short or Integer value to a reflective call like Thread/sleep that takes a long would not match, that has been corrected.
