BJP Set for Victory in Assam, Says Minister Piyush Hazarika Ahead of April 9 Assembly Poll

As Assam gears up for its upcoming Assembly elections, state minister Piyush Hazarika has expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies will secure a victory. Speaking to reporters in Guwahati, Hazarika emphasized that the ruling government's development initiatives and policy decisions have bolstered public support across the state. The elections, scheduled for April 9, will see all 126 Assembly constituencies up for grabs in a single phase, with vote counting set for May 4.

Hazarika predicted that the people of Assam would once again back the BJP-led alliance over the Indian National Congress (INC), which had governed the state for decades before the BJP came to power. The minister attributed this anticipated support to the government's significant development achievements, which form the backbone of the BJP's campaign narrative.

Under the current administration, healthcare and educational infrastructure have seen substantial expansion. Hazarika pointed out that while the Congress built only six hospitals and 12 universities during its 70 years in power, the BJP-led government has established 16 medical colleges and increased the state's university count to 32. "We have done a lot. That is why the people of Assam will vote only for the BJP and our alliance, not the Congress," Hazarika asserted.

The minister also highlighted the government's focus on expanding medical education in the state. According to Hazarika, the number of medical seats has increased from 726 earlier to 1,850 under the current government, with plans to further boost this capacity to 2,800 seats.

Employment generation remains a key focus of the ruling party's campaign. Hazarika stated that if the government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma returns to power, the state will provide between two and 2.5 lakh government jobs to young people. "If we come to power again, we will give 2 to 2.5 lakh government jobs," Hazarika promised. He also mentioned the government's efforts to attract industries and create job opportunities through various incentives and policies.

The BJP-led government has also prioritized infrastructure development, with a particular emphasis on connectivity and transportation. Hazarika noted that the administration has invested heavily in road construction, bridge development, and the expansion of rail networks, aiming to improve accessibility and facilitate economic growth across the state.

Despite facing challenges such as unemployment and regional disparities, the BJP-led alliance remains optimistic about its prospects in the upcoming elections. Hazarika's confidence stems from the government's track record of delivering on its promises and addressing the needs of the Assamese people.

As the election date approaches, both the BJP-led alliance and the INC are working tirelessly to win over voters. The Assam elections will be closely watched, as the outcome could have implications for the political landscape of the region and the country as a whole. With development initiatives, job creation, and improved infrastructure at the forefront of the BJP's campaign, the party is poised for a strong showing in the April 9 polls.
