Bauer Solar launches 480 W back-contact solar module
The German manufacturer said its new back-contact solar panel has a power conversion efficiency of up to 23.52%.

German solar module manufacturer Bauer Solar has announced the launch of its latest innovation, a 480 W back-contact solar module with a power conversion efficiency of up to 23.52%. This new addition to the company's product portfolio is designed to cater to the residential rooftop solar market, offering an economical solution with an optimal price-performance ratio.
The new back-contact panel is initially available in a full-black glass-glass version, measuring 1,800 mm × 1,134 mm × 30 mm and weighing 24.8 kg. The module is constructed using 108 bifacial half-cells, which contribute to its high efficiency. Both the front and rear glass panes are 2 mm thick and feature anti-reflective coatings to enhance performance. The frame is made from anodized black aluminum alloy, ensuring durability and a sleek appearance.
Bauer Solar has designed the new module to withstand a wide range of environmental conditions. It is rated for operating temperatures from –40°C to 85°C and can handle a maximum system voltage of 1,500 V. The modules are also capable of withstanding static loads up to 5,400 Pa and carry a hail resistance rating of HW3. Additionally, they are certified for fire protection class A, providing an extra layer of safety for installations.
To further emphasize the reliability of the new product, Bauer Solar is offering a 30-year product and performance warranty on the modules. The linear performance warranty guarantees a minimum output of 88.85% of the original capacity after 30 years, ensuring long-term efficiency and return on investment for customers.
In addition to the back-contact modules, Bauer Solar plans to expand its product line this summer with the “Pure” and “Black” variants, which will reach an output of 465 W using its TOPCon technology. These new modules will continue to build on the company's reputation for innovation and quality.
While pricing details have not been disclosed, Bauer Solar has highlighted that the new back-contact modules are aimed at the residential rooftop solar market, where affordability and efficiency are key considerations. The company's commitment to offering high-performance solar solutions at an economical price point is expected to attract a broad range of customers, from homeowners to small businesses.
Furthermore, Bauer Solar plans to increase the output of its back-contact modules to 500 W later this year with the “Pure” and “Performance” variants. This expansion of the product line demonstrates the company's dedication to staying at the forefront of solar technology and meeting the evolving needs of the market.
In summary, Bauer Solar's new 480 W back-contact solar module represents a significant advancement in solar technology, offering high efficiency, durability, and a competitive price point. With a robust warranty and plans for further product expansion, the company is well-positioned to continue its growth and contribute to the global transition to sustainable energy solutions.
