Hello! I’m Daniel Abib, and this is my first AWS Weekly Roundup. I’m a Senior Specialist Solutions Architect at AWS, focused on generative AI and Amazon Bedrock. With over 28 years of experience in solution architecture, software development, and cloud architecture, I help startups and enterprises harness the power of generative AI with Amazon Bedrock. I’ve been at AWS for more than six and a half years, working closely with customers across Latin America, and I’m also passionate about serverless technologies. Outside of work and endurance sports, I’m a dedicated father to Cecília (7) and Rafael (4), who keep me busier—and happier— than any distributed system ever could. I’m based in São Paulo, you can find me on LinkedIn and X (@DCABib), where I share insights about generative AI, Amazon Bedrock, AWS serverless services, and the occasional Ironman throwback.
Now, let’s get into this week’s AWS news. Last week’s launches included several updates and new features that are reshaping the cloud landscape. Here are some highlights from this past week that caught my attention:
Amazon Redshift increases performance for new queries in dashboards and ETL workloads by up to 7x. Amazon Redshift now delivers up to 7x faster performance for new queries in dashboards and ETL workloads. Queries you run for the first time—without cached results—now execute significantly faster, reducing wait times for interactive dashboards and accelerating your ETL pipelines. This is particularly impactful for workloads with high query variability where cache hits are less frequent. By optimizing the performance of new queries, Amazon Redshift ensures that users can quickly access the insights they need, even in dynamic and unpredictable environments.
NVIDIA Nemotron 3 Super now available on Amazon Bedrock. NVIDIA Nemotron 3 Super is now available in Amazon Bedrock, expanding the lineup of foundation models you can access through the unified Bedrock API. Nemotron 3 Super is a high-performance language model optimized for tasks such as text generation, complex reasoning, summarization, and code generation. You can now invoke Nemotron 3 Super alongside other foundation models in your existing Bedrock workflows, without managing multiple APIs or services. This integration streamlines the process of leveraging generative AI capabilities, allowing developers and businesses to build more sophisticated applications and services.
Amazon Corretto 26 is now available. Amazon Corretto 26, the latest version of the open-source Java Enterprise Edition, is now available. This release includes performance improvements, security enhancements, and new features, ensuring that customers can run their Java applications with confidence and efficiency. Amazon Corretto remains a popular choice for developers and organizations looking to deploy Java applications on AWS, and this latest version further solidifies its position as a reliable and scalable option.
AWS Lambda now supports Python 3.12. AWS Lambda has added support for Python 3.12, giving developers even more flexibility when building and deploying serverless applications. Python 3.12 brings new features and improvements, such as enhanced type hints and better performance, which can help developers build more efficient and maintainable code. With the addition of Python 3.12, AWS Lambda continues to evolve as a versatile and powerful platform for serverless computing.
Nova Forge SDK is now available. The Nova Forge SDK, a set of tools and libraries for developing and deploying machine learning models, is now available. The SDK simplifies the process of building, training, and deploying models, allowing developers to focus on the core aspects of their projects. With the Nova Forge SDK, developers can leverage AWS’s extensive machine learning capabilities and integrate them seamlessly into their applications.
These are just a few of the many updates and launches that AWS has delivered this week. As the cloud continues to evolve, AWS remains at the forefront, providing innovative solutions and tools that help businesses and developers achieve their goals. By staying informed about the latest developments in the AWS ecosystem, you can ensure that you’re always equipped with the best technologies and strategies to succeed in today’s fast-paced digital landscape.
In my next AWS Weekly Roundup, I’ll be diving deeper into these updates and exploring how they can be applied in real-world scenarios. Until then, stay tuned for more insights and news from the AWS world.
