Union Minister and Rajya Sabha MP L Murugan sought election from the Avanasi (SC) constituency, while former BJP Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan submitted her papers from the Mylapore Assembly constituency in Chennai. AIADMK general secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami filed his nomination from his native Edappadi Assembly constituency in Salem district, where he had won five times in the past.

BJP Mahila Morcha chief Vanathi Srinivasan, accompanied by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and former BJP state president K Annamalai, submitted her nomination papers from Coimbatore North. She represented Coimbatore South in the outgoing Assembly.
