Agratas advances 20 GWh battery plant in western India

Deepak Khare, vice president of manufacturing operations at Agratas, highlighted the importance of this achievement. "Completing the steel frame represents an important step in our progress toward operational readiness," he stated. "Our focus now is on developing systems, processes, and capabilities to deliver batteries manufactured in India for global markets, while also building a skilled workforce to support safe and high-quality production."
The steel structure, which spans 700 meters in length and 150 meters in width, reaches a maximum height of 34 meters and covers a built-up area of 105,000 square meters. The construction required more than 24,000 tonnes of steel, with associated buildings being developed in parallel. At its peak, the project saw over 2,500 skilled workers actively involved in the construction process.
The project is being executed by Tata Projects Ltd., in collaboration with Tata Consulting Engineers and multiple steel contractors. This joint effort has ensured the smooth progress of the facility's construction, despite the complexities involved in setting up a large-scale battery manufacturing plant.
