In Satna, Madhya Pradesh, the licenses of two seed traders have been revoked due to non-compliance with the electronic distribution system for seeds. The state government has implemented an e-development system and an agricultural supply remedy system to ensure transparency, timely delivery, and smooth distribution of seeds to farmers.
According to the directives of the Madhya Pradesh government and Collector Satna Dr. Satish Kumar AS, all seed distribution in the district has been mandated to be carried out through the e-development system since April 1, 2026. All seed companies, thokra, and khudra traders were informed about this through letters and meetings. However, on April 4, 2026, reports received through the IMD portal indicated that Me. Motilal Singh from Gram Belwa Vidhan Sabha constituency Ramapur Baghelan and Me. Radhe-Radhe Traders from Vrindavan Chourahi had sold seeds outside the e-development system.
Deputy Chief Minister of Kisan Kalyan and Agriculture Development Pandeey has immediately revoked the licenses of both entities under the Seed (Control) Act, 1985, citing their violation. During the suspension period, seed sales by the concerned traders will be entirely prohibited. Legal action will also be initiated against them.
The Deputy Chief Minister has instructed all seed traders to sell seeds only through the e-development system. It has also been emphasized that seeds can only be sold in closed bags, and not in open ones. An appeal has been made to farmers to book their seeds through the e-development system to ensure transparent and smooth distribution.
The IMD has issued an alert about the impending westward disturbance, with heavy rain expected to continue across the country. The system's impact is expected to peak between April 7-8.
